Another Morning, Another Thought....

Or 2 or 3. LOL I certainly have my moments. So anyway, without further ado.....here we go!

I'm a big time animal lover. I've had many cats over the years and a dog or two as well. I confine myself to just cats at this point because living in different kinds of apartments and being a renter just isn't conducive to dog ownership. I want to have a yard for a dog to run around in not be cooped up all the time inside and only going out when I have to walk him for potty time. It wouldn't be fair to him so I have my fur baby cats. Back in 2006 we adopted 2 cats from the local humane society. We named them Shannon Kyla and Seamus Finnegan.

Last year my little Seamus boy fell ill and over the next couple of months he just got worse. Despite everything I did for him trying to keep him alive, it was a battle I ended up losing. November 9th last year he collapsed, within an hour of this we took him to the vet to have him put to sleep. I remember the look in his eyes as he lay there on the couch. His eyes told me, it's time now....I can't go on anymore. After it was over the vet told my hubby he had brought him in just in time to save him from a very painful death. Within an hour or two Seamus would have started having convulsions and been in a great deal of pain. I'm glad I was able to spare him that at least. I cried almost non-stop for the first month. At the time I didn't know if I'd ever get another cat.

Then, back in June, a co-worker of hubby's had a cat that had a bunch of kittens. With a bit of urging from a friend, we decided to take a look and see if any of the kittens was "the one" for us. We wanted a boy and she had 2 left. The first one was cute but wasn't "the one". She had to go extract the 2nd one from way back underneath a bed. He always hid there because she has a 2 yr old that just loved to pick the kittens up and carry them around like a baby blanket. LOLOL As soon as we saw him, he was definitely "the one"!! We grabbed him and ran....well, not really but almost. *grins* We named him Connor Devlin. Can you tell I have a thing for Celtic names?

Our little man is now 5 months old and he's grown so much. Like kids they grow up so fast! Unlike kids they don't talk back to you, or yell no all the time or throw tantrums. Hmmm....why did I have kids again? ROFL Animals are so much more pleasant and quieter too! They help me stay calm and give me a reason to get up everyday. I can't imagine how I stayed sane before getting them. *stops and thinks for a second.* Did I just say I was sane?!?! Oh my...*waves at the smoke cloud around my head* I really shouldn't try and think. The same thing happens every dang time! Ok....so I really don't consider myself sane at all and my poor mind walked out a long time ago. It was just fed up I guess. Come to think of it, the damned ungrateful wretch left me without a word and hasn't been in contact since....shoot I don't even know when it left! *snorts* That's the thanks I get for feeding it and giving it a home all those years. *sigh* Oh well.....
